This Channa Dal Kuzhambu came into my mind and I told him the recipe. Then I also prepared the same dish. This is a very easy recipe and if there is nothing to cook we can make this Kuzhambu. Channa & Potatoes are such a lovely combination to cook with.
Instructions to make Spicy Channa Curry:
- Soak the channa overnight (6 - 8 hours)
- Drain the water and mix the salt with the channa. Pressure cook it (4 - 6 Whistles)
- Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan and saute onions and tomatoes for 5 - 6 minutes.
- Add ginger, garlic and grated coconut with onion mixture. Then grind it in a mixer till it turns into a paste.
- Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. After splattering, add Cinnamon, Cloves, Green Cardamom, Curry leaves and saute for a few seconds. Then add the Onion paste, pressure cooked channa, salt and water.
- When it gets thicker, add chopped coriander leaves. Serve it with Poori / Chapati.
This is a very easy recipe and if there is nothing to cook we can make this Kuzhambu. Channa & Potatoes are such a lovely combination to cook with. They make awesome curries when cooked, because they both have the tendency to absorb the flavours which you add in. In Trinidad and Tobago, all spicy finger food are called "cutters".
